The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spartilius shoots for a takedown but Mazyck saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Mazyck tries a head kick but it misses.
Donk. Spartilius catches Mazyck right on the button with a cross.

Mazyck closes the distance and pushes Spartilius back into the cage.

Mazyck breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Spartilius or perhaps it was just good defense by Mazyck which made him look bad.
Mazyck shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Spartilius sprawls well. Spartilius wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mazyck gets slowly back to his feet.

Mazyck looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Spartilius is fending him off so far but Mazyck persists. Nope, Spartilius circles away and we're back to standing.
Maximus Spartilius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mazyck shoots in for a takedown but Spartilius shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Mazyck counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Spartilius's guard now.
Mazyck might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Spartilius is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mazyck has a hand on Spartilius's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Spartilius takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Spartilius lands a big shot there that rocks Mazyck but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Mazyck takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Spartilius's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
