Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Mullard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mayer comes to the cage accompanied by I´m shipping out to Boston - Dropkick Murphys. Andre Mullard has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with John Mayer's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Mayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Andre Mullard!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mayer misses with a leg kick.
Mullard avoids a kick to the body.
Mullard throws a combination that misses
and Mayer counters with a nice body shot.
Mullard scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like John Mayer has been cut.
Mullard shoots in for a double leg but Mayer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mayer connects with a body shot that sends Mullard's belly button to the back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mayer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mullard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mullard.
Mullard misses with a series of wild punches.
A jab from Mayer does it's job there.
Mullard avoids the body shot from Mayer.

Mayer looks to score with a jab to the body but Mullard is just out of range.

Mullard slips under a jab from Mayer.
Mayer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Mullard shoots in looking for a takedown but Mayer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mullard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
John Mayer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Mullard.

Mullard changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mayer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mayer tries to improve position but can't.
Mullard throws an elbow but Mayer slips to the side and avoids it well.
Mullard tries to advance to mount but Mayer denies him.
Mayer is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Mayer is not content to let Mullard control the position.
Mayer is trying to improve his position.
Mayer takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Mullard is looking to take a break and control but Mayer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mullard misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Mullard tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mayer's legs.
Mullard advances to mount.
Mullard throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Mayer regains half guard.
Mullard wants to free his trapped foot but Mayer is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Mullard trying to advance position but Mayer counters by regaining guard.
Mullard stopping the sweep attempt from Mayer.
Mullard wants to control from the top but Mayer keeps moving.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mullard tries to free his leg and advance position but Mayer is retaining full guard.
Mayer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andre Mullard will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mayer fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mullard looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mullard keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mayer.
Mullard throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
John Mayer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mayer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mullard darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


John Mayer's cut is getting worse.
Mullard missing with a left hand there. Mayer was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mayer throws a combination. Mullard tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Mayer misses with an uppercut. Mullard saw that one coming.

Mullard throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mayer was covering up waiting for the punch and Mullard finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mayer wants to stand up but Mullard is controlling him.
Mullard trying to control but Mayer is working from the bottom.
Mullard pushes down on Mayer's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Andre Mullard has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mullard wants to pass to mount but Mayer is defending the position.
Mullard landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Mullard looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Mullard has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Mayer sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Mullard is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mullard wants to control the pace but Mayer is squirming around nicely.
Mullard has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mayer's face.

Mayer is squirming around, avoiding Mullard's attempts to control the action.
Mayer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Mullard jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mayer manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Mullard throwing strikes but Mayer manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Mullard is looking for a sweep.

Andre Mullard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Mullard ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mayer moves away.
Mullard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mayer pinned against the cage. Mayer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mayer throws a right and a left that Mullard avoids nicely.
The fighters circling - Mayer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mayer moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
John Mayer is winning the standup battle so far.
Mayer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mullard moves away.

Mayer misses with a wild body shot.
Mullard misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mayer.
Mullard feints a jab promting Mayer to slip. Mullard then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mayer slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


John Mayer's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Mullard throws a right hand that Mayer ducks under and follows up with a left that Mayer also avoids with ease.
Mullard throws a shot from downtown. Mayer moves away and avoids it.
Mullard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mullard displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mayer throws out the jab.
A low kick from Mullard is predictable there
and Mayer counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

John Mayer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mayer jabs Mullard right on the nose. Mullard blinks but takes it well.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Mullard. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mayer scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Mullard takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mayer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Mullard lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mayer has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mayer and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Mullard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mayer pinned against the cage. Mayer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Mullard has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mullard there as he acknowledges the shot.

Mullard shoots in but Mayer avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mayer regains half guard, as Mullard was trying to land strikes.
Andre Mullard is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mayer is trying to stand back up but Mullard is controlling him
Mullard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayer keeps working.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Mayer showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mullard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
