PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sarkis Terteryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David comes to the cage accompanied by Craig David - Rise and Fall. Terteryan has chosen Röyksopp - The Fear as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Craig David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sarkis Terteryan!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Terteryan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Terteryan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Terteryan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Terteryan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, David has escaped the position, nice work there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Terteryan trying to control the action but David is working from the bottom.
David wants to control but Terteryan postures up.

Terteryan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
David is not content to let Terteryan control the position.
Terteryan throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Terteryan fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Terteryan trying to control the action but David is working from the bottom.

Terteryan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Terteryan working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
David parries the strikes from Terteryan easily there. Terteryan is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable David to escape.
Terteryan sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but David is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Terteryan misses with the ground and pound.

Terteryan is trying to get an arm triangle but David is defending well.
David sneaks back into half guard.
Terteryan wants to lay and pray for a moment but David keeps working.

Terteryan trying to work for an americana but David has managed to regain full guard.
David keeping moving, preventing Terteryan from controlling successfully.
David throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Terteryan got a little sloppy there for a moment and David has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Terteryan has managed to get both his arms back between David's legs - danger averted.

David looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Terteryan throws a strike but David rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
David lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

David missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
David throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Terteryan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sarkis Terteryan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


David shoots in for a takedown but Terteryan shows good takedown defense.
David ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Terteryan moves in looking to clinch but David pushes him off.
David keeps the fight on the outside.
Terteryan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts David as he jumps to the side.

David throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Terteryan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. David is in Terteryan's guard.

Terteryan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes David off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Terteryan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but David circles away quickly and effectively.
David shoots in but Terteryan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Terteryan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's one minute gone in the round.

David closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Terteryan to the mat! Terteryan manages to get full guard.
Terteryan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Terteryan passes to side control.
David tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Terteryan easily slips into full mount!
Terteryan breaks from David's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Sarkis Terteryan has got the better of the ground game so far.

Terteryan is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but David is surviving well by controlling Terteryan's body position as best he can.
David wants to control but Terteryan is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
David is looking to get to half guard.

Terteryan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, David has worked his arm free - good work by David!
Sloppy strikes there by Terteryan.
Terteryan with the ground and pound but David regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Terteryan lands a nice short elbow.
Terteryan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

David looking for submissions off his back.
Terteryan trying to pass the guard but David defending well.
David avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Terteryan.
David is staying active underneath Terteryan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
David regains full guard. Nicely done.
Terteryan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Terteryan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Terteryan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Terteryan throws an elbow that misses. David uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Terteryan's guard. Nice move by David!
Terteryan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. David manages to get himself to full guard.
David utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Terteryan is posturing up here but David has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Terteryan tries to roll out but it's too tight and Terteryan has to tap! Slick submission there by David!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Craig David!
Craig David very nearly forgot to thank Das Labor amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
