PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tony Danza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raive Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Danza might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Who's the Boss. Raive Malapitan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Danza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raive Malapitan!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danza with a lazy takedown attempt

and Malapitan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Danza won't be happy with that.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Danza manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Danza is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Malapitan pulls his head out easily.
Danza is breathing heavily.
Malapitan is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Malapitan is trying to control the action in half guard but Danza is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Danza is not content to let Malapitan control the position.

Malapitan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Danza is pressing down on Malapitan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Malapitan is pushing down on Danza's leg trying to pass to half guard. Danza is fighting to maintain full guard but Malapitan has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Malapitan wants to work for an arm triangle but Danza is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Malapitan scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Malapitan slips a nice elbow through Danza's hands, connecting with Danza's forehead.

Danza is refusing to be controlled, as Malapitan sits in half guard.

Malapitan working over Danza with some ground and pound. Danza looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Danza is looking for a sweep. Malapitan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Malapitan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Malapitan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Danza is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Malapitan pulls his head out easily.

Malapitan is working for a submission of some sort.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Danza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Malapitan wants to take a breather but Danza is having none of it.
Malapitan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Malapitan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Danza gets full guard.
Danza keeping moving, preventing Malapitan from controlling successfully.
Malapitan stopping the sweep attempt from Danza.
Malapitan wants to control from the top but Danza keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Malapitan is working Danza over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Danza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Malapitan throwing strikes from guard but Danza blocks nicely.

Danza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Malapitan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Danza shoots in looking for a takedown but Malapitan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Danza's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Danza is looking to clinch but Malapitan is avoiding it.

Malapitan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Malapitan has gone for a leg lock! Danza slips out almost immediately though and dives into Malapitan's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Danza postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raive Malapitan dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Malapitan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Danza tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Malapitan moves into the clinch.
Danza misses with a hook to the ribs.

Danza drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Malapitan gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Danza is pressed up against the cage. Malapitan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Danza down to the mat. Danza avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Malapitan wants to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Danza moves in looking to clinch but Malapitan pushes him off.
Danza doesn't manage to clinch there - Malapitan circles away.

Malapitan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Danza!
The referee warns Danza that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Raive Malapitan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Malapitan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Malapitan lands a big elbow.


Danza is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Malapitan looking to control but Danza is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Oh Danza is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Malapitan lands a big elbow - Danza is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Danza is forced to tap out!
