PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reece Edward Duenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sub Position (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duenas kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is California Gurls. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Reece Edward Duenas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sub Position!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Position throws a looping overhand right but Duenas ducks down to avoid it.
Position takes one to the chin there.
Position closes the distance and clinches up with Duenas, looking for a takedown. Position pushes Duenas against the cage but Duenas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Duenas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Duenas drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Position bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Duenas's guard.

Duenas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Position can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Position shoots in looking for a takedown. Duenas tries to sprawl out of it but Position keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duenas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Duenas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Position shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Duenas sprawls well. Duenas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Position gets slowly back to his feet.

and Duenas counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Duenas.
Duenas lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Position backwards.
Duenas is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Duenas works on Position's body with a couple of short punches.
Position tries to break free but Duenas pushes him back against the cage.

Position is trying to drag Duenas to the mat but Duenas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Duenas is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Position can't fight it off and eventually Duenas manages to take the fight to the floor. Position looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Position is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Reece Edward Duenas.
Well Duenas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
