Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Kendall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eiji Kawashima!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kendall scores with the left hand. Kawashima knows he should have avoided that one.
Kawashima avoids a kick to the body.
Kawashima keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kendall.
Kawashima moves out of range of the strikes.
Kendall moves out of range as Kawashima throws a body kick.
Kendall tries to bum rush Kawashima with a series of wild strikes but Kawashima uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kendall misses with a looping left.
A low kick from Kendall misses
and Kawashima counters with a good, hard body kick but Kendall shrugs it off.
Kendall tries to land a leg kick but Kawashima saw it coming and moves away.
Kendall pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kendall wants to slow Kawashima down by chopping away at his legs.
Kawashima lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kendall backs up against the cage.


It looks like Chris Kendall has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kawashima misses with a wild combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kendall. Kawashima does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kawashima takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kendall lands with an overhand left.
Kawashima misses with a low kick as Kendall jumps back.

Kawashima throws a head kick that Kendall semi-blocks.
Kendall cracks Kawashima with an open hand slap.
Kendall throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kawashima.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kendall.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kawashima checks a leg kick.
Kawashima steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Kendall. That one must have hurt.
A low kick from Kendall is predictable there
and Kawashima counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kawashima throws a shot from downtown. Kendall moves away and avoids it.
Kawashima lands a front kick.

A looping hook to the body misses from Kendall. Kawashima does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kawashima on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Kawashima throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kendall.
Good work by Kendall as he checks the leg kick.
Kendall misses with a hook.
Kawashima lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Kendall throws a body punch but Kawashima moves out of range.
Kendall comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kendall thuds his right hand into Kawashima's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kendall motions for Kawashima to come forward. Kendall throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kendall.

Kawashima digs a good body shot into Kendall's ribs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kawashima is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kendall.

Donk. Kendall catches Kawashima right on the button with a cross.
Kendall takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Kendall is breathing heavily.
Both fighters circling a little - Kawashima finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Kawashima scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Kawashima lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kawashima tries to bum rush Kendall with a series of wild strikes but Kendall uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kendall throws a front kick aimed at Kawashima's knee but Kawashima avoids it well.
Kawashima lands with a nice body punch.
Kendall closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eiji Kawashima dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Chris Kendall's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kawashima sizes up Kendall with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Good leg kick by Kawashima there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Eiji Kawashima seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kendall ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kawashima moves away.
Kawashima throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Kawashima pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kendall moves out of range of the body kick.
Kendall stuns Kawashima with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kawashima blocks a low kick nicely.
Kawashima lands a leg kick that knocks Kendall off balance momentarily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kawashima, as that shot connected.


Kendall is rocked!
Kendall throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kawashima sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kendall throws a push kick but Kawashima slaps the foot to one side.
Kendall tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kendall staying out of range there.

Kawashima walks into a jab.
Kawashima ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kendall moves away.
Kendall moves out of range of the body kick.
Kawashima delivers a nice body kick.
A shot to the body from Kendall misses
and Kawashima counters with an inside leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kendall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kawashima slips a jab from Kendall.
Kendall moves out of range of the body kick from Kawashima.

Kendall misses with a wild body shot.
Kawashima attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Kendall swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kendall tries a head kick but it misses.
Kawashima tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kawashima lunges at Kendall with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kendall's hand.

Kawashima lands a big head kick that sends Kendall tumbling to the mat! Kawashima takes a step backwards and waves Kendall back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Kendall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kendall throws a right hand that misses
and Kawashima counters with an inside leg kick.
Kawashima seems to be stalking Kendall here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Kendall drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Eiji Kawashima!

An out of breath Eiji Kawashima thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
