PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Braden Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turk comes to the cage accompanied by Status Quo - Deeper and Down. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Braden Turk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Hall!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turk scores with a nice head shot.
Hall misses with a series of wild punches.
Turk throws a hook to the side of Hall's head but Hall sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A big left from Turk misses.
Hall goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Turk tried to score with a low kick but Hall checks it.

Hall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hall trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Hall goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Turk turns into him and now he's in Hall's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Turk throws a big right hand that misses.
Hall looking to hit a scissor sweep but Turk is one step ahead there.

Hall keeping moving, preventing Turk from controlling successfully.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Braden Turk.
Hall throws a combination that misses
and Hall takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hall takes a swing at Turk's ribcage but misses.
Turk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Turk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Turk misses with a wild body shot.
Turk lands a body shot.
Turk connects with the punch.
Turk avoids the head kick by Hall.
A head kick from Hall lands but Turk takes it in his stride.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Turk scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Hall rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Turk counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sloppy strikes from Turk. Those never looked like landing.
Hall tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Turk throws a good cross that connects.

Hall tries to sprawl but Turk drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Ground and pound from Turk.
Hall is not content to let Turk control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hall trying to hold on to Turk's head to control him but Turk postures up.
Hall might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Turk kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Hall is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Turk is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Hall wants to sweep here but Turk controlling him for the moment.
Turk throws a big right hand that misses.
Turk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Turk looking to sit in guard and control but Hall gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turk is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Turk dives in and scores a takedown into Hall's guard.
Hall looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Turk trying to control but Hall is working from the bottom.
Hall is pulling down on Turk's head. It's preventing any offense from Turk, at least for the moment.
Turk distracts Hall with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Turk is looking to work some ground and pound but Hall has wrist control.

Hall controls Turk momentarily but Turk frees himself.
Turk slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Turk shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hall defends it nicely.
Turk on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hall moves out of range of the strikes.
Hall blocks a head kick by Turk.
Turk blocks a jab.

A punch lands to the side of Turk 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Turk slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The fighters circling - Turk throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hall slaps away a takedown attempt from Turk, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hall throws a head kick but Turk moves out of range.
Hall steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Turk.
Turk avoids a punch combination nicely.
Turk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Don Hall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Turk loads up on a big right hand but Hall slips the punch.

Turk throws a lazy right hand but Hall sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hall throws a head kick that Turk semi-blocks.
Hall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Turk was well out of range. Poor timing from Hall.
Hall bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Turk drops his hands momentarily and Hall takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Hall tries to land a front kick but Turk steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Turk lands a nice hook to Hall's body. Hall takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Turk tries to close the distance and clinch but Hall swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hall looks to throw the jab but Turk is out of range.
Turk moves out of range of the strikes.
Turk takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Hall closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Turk breaks from the clinch.
Hall scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Turk misses the shot to the body.
Hall avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hall lands a jab-cross combination.

Turk is rocked!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hall dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Oh Turk is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hall connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hall cracks Turk with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Turk falls to his knees and Hall doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

After winning the bout, Don Hall thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
