The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nokia gets caught flat footed, as Roman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Roman throws an elbow that misses. Nokia uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Roman's guard. Nice move by Nokia!
Roman trying to keep a closed guard but Nokia is proving a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nokia.

Roman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nokia sprawls well initially but Roman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Nokia is defending against the submission attempts here by Roman.
Roman throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Nokia to regain full guard.

Roman tries to free his leg and advance position but Nokia is retaining full guard.

Roman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nokia paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Roman feints and as Nokia raises his hands in defense, Roman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Roman reaches up to try and control the position but Nokia seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Roman rolls and tries to escape and now Nokia has his back!

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Dante Gael Roman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Roman is looking to slow Nokia down with leg kicks.
Nokia shoots in for a takedown but Roman shows good takedown defense.

Nokia wants to stand but Roman is controlling the position.

Nokia circles away from the clinch attempt.

Roman shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nokia is trying to defend but Roman finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Roman throws a strike but Nokia rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Dante Gael Roman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Roman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nokia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nokia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nokia is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Roman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nokia is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Roman, into his guard.
