Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Waits (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Stan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Greg Stan is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Waits!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Greg Stan!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waits thows a left - swing and a miss!
Waits punishes Stan's body with a nice straight punch.
Stan scores with a hook to the body. Waits takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Stan throws a body punch but Waits moves out of range.
Stan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Stan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Waits was well out of range. Poor timing from Stan.
Stan checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Waits lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stan is defended easily by Waits.
Waits thows a body shot but no joy.
A clash of legs there as Stan blocks the low kick.
Stan lands with a right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A right-left combo lands from Stan.


It looks like Tom Waits has been cut.

Stan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fighters are battling for position here. Waits manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Stan's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Stan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Waits works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Waits not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stan landing some decent shots from guard.
Stan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waits lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stan!

Stan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Waits wants to control the pace but Stan is squirming around nicely.
Stan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Waits avoids the attempt from Stan to control.
Stan is working to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Waits controlling from the full mount.
Stan tries to hold on but Waits pushes him away.
Feeble punches landing from Stan - he's mounted - they can't hurt.
Stan is desperately trying to improve his position but Waits has a good base and remains in mount.
Waits can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stan is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Waits.
Waits goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Stan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Waits sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stan somewhat.
Waits stuffs the takedown attempt from Stan. Stan gets slowly back to his feet.
Stan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tom Waits has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Stan.
Stan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Waits moves away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stan.
Stan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Waits sprawls well. Waits wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stan gets slowly back to his feet.
Waits lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stan circles away quickly and effectively.

Waits throws the kick towards the body but Stan avoids it.
Greg Stan seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Stan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Waits avoids it really well and circles away.
Stan fails with a takedown attempt.
Stan is breathing heavily.
Good work by Stan as he checks the leg kick.
Waits tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Stan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Stan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Greg Stan has got the better of the ground game so far.
Waits regains half guard, as Stan was trying to land strikes.

Stan controlling the pace.
Waits wants to control but Stan is keeping busy.
Stan wants to take a breather but Waits is having none of it.
Stan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Stan trying to mount his opponent but Waits defends it.

Waits slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Waits might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Waits is trying to control the position but Stan postures up.
Stan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Waits is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Waits is on top in guard.

A close second round but Greg Stan will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Greg Stan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
