PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Choake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chev Chelios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choake's entrance music is Hans Zimmer - The Kraken. A fine choice. Chelios has chosen In Waves as his entrance music. Chev Chelios will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Choake.
Choake missing with a left hand there. Chelios was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Choake just misses with a punch to the body.

Choake tries to keep at a distance but Chelios has taken the fight into the clinch.
Choake on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Chelios gets underhooks to prevent Choake's takedown attempt.
Chelios throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Choake gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chelios regains guard.

Choake will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Chelios can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Choake controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chelios can do anything to dispel that myth.

Choake has his foot on Chelios's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chelios works his way back into a safe position though.

Chelios wants to get up but he can't break Choake's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Choake is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chelios defends well.

Choake is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Chelios is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Chelios really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Choake. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Choake fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chelios manages to avoid it.

Chev Chelios showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Choake loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Chelios scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Choake land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Choake stands and salutes the crowd.
