The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cruz !
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Silva looking to control but Cruz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Cruz looking for a guillotine here but Silva defends easily.

Cruz 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Cruz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Diego Cruz wasn't active enough on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz wants to control but Silva is having none of it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Cruz is pulling down on Silva's head. It's preventing any offense from Silva, at least for the moment.

Silva is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Cruz has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Silva is looking to defend but Cruz has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Silva! Cruz pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Silva taps out and this one is all over!

After the fight, Diego Cruz was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
