PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Clinton Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Kellenberger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kellenberger comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Reel big fish kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Clinton Barton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erik Kellenberger!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barton closes the distance and clinches up with Kellenberger, looking for a takedown. Barton pushes Kellenberger against the cage but Kellenberger circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Barton keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kellenberger.

Kellenberger closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Barton quickly recovers to half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Barton wants to get back to his feet.

Kellenberger looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kellenberger is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Barton wants to get back to his feet.

Barton tries to kick Kellenberger off but Kellenberger keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Barton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Barton throws a strike aimed at the side of Kellenberger's head but Kellenberger avoids it well.
Barton postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A close round but Erik Kellenberger will probably get the nod.
That's time! Barton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Kellenberger shoots in and drives through. Barton sprawls well.

Barton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kellenberger's guard.

Kellenberger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Erik Kellenberger has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kellenberger trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Barton's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Barton with a flurry of punches that miss.
Barton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Barton postures up in Kellenberger's guard and throws a big left but Kellenberger blocks it.

Barton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kellenberger manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Barton has Kellenberger in his guard.
Kellenberger distracts Barton with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kellenberger is controlling him.

Barton has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kellenberger off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Barton uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kellenberger.
Barton tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Kellenberger swings for the body but Barton moves out of range.
Kellenberger looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kellenberger has a takedown stuffed.
Barton fails with the takedown.
Kellenberger scores with a leg kick.
Kellenberger throws a leg kick which misses Barton's front leg but catches the back leg as Barton tries to avoid it.
Kellenberger throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barton stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kellenberger shoots in for a takedown but Barton shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Clinton Barton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Erik Kellenberger.
Kellenberger dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Barton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barton wants it to stay on the feet.
Barton defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kellenberger.
Kellenberger throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Kellenberger finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Clinton Barton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Barton counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kellenberger's guard now.

Barton throws an elbow that misses. Kellenberger uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Barton's guard. Nice move by Kellenberger!

Kellenberger wants to control from the top but Barton keeps moving.

That was a close second round but I would say that Clinton Barton will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Barton is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Kellenberger still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Kellenberger has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kellenberger lands a few punches from side control.

Kellenberger has hold of Barton's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Barton tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kellenberger cranks the arm and Barton screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Barton, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Erik Kellenberger!
An intense looking Erik Kellenberger took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Wow man zippity ta..Michael Kimmo You were suppose to win that match but I can the sun can't shine on the fishes tail every day! '.
