PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Aurelius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Aurelius might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Requiem For A Dream . Steele is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Lil Wayne-Drop the World. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aurelius's waist but Aurelius gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Steele off to one side.
Steele ducks under a wild hook from Aurelius.
Steele ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aurelius moves away.
Steele tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Aurelius paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Steele tries to clinch there but Aurelius circles away.
Aurelius throws a lazy right hand but Steele sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Steele tries to clinch up but Aurelius circles away and keeps his distance.
Aurelius throws an overhand right that lands on Steele's shoulder, as Steele tries to avoid the shot.
Aurelius connects with a looping right hand.

It looks like Ben Steele has been cut.
Aurelius misses with a few strikes there.
Aurelius loads up on a big right hand but Steele slips the punch.
Aurelius with a jab.
Steele bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Steele takes a shot right to the bread basket.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steele fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Aurelius ducks under a wild hook from Steele.
Aurelius swings for the body but Steele moves out of range.
The fighters circling - Aurelius throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Steele tries to clinch up
and Aurelius counters with a straight right hand.
Steele tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Aurelius counters with a stiff right hand.
Aurelius tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Steele was well out of range. Poor timing from Aurelius.
Aurelius connects with a body shot that sends Steele's belly button to the back.
Steele shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aurelius but Aurelius pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Marcus Aurelius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Steele.
Aurelius tests Steele's chin there with a solid looking shot.

That has opened up Ben Steele's cut even more.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Steele throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Aurelius closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Aurelius in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Aurelius creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Steele takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Steele is rocked!

The cut above Ben Steele's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Aurelius has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Aurelius is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Steele looks calm but he's in trouble here. Aurelius gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Steele is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Aurelius lets go of the hold and Steele can pop his arm back in it's socket.
