Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anton Kuivanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Snow is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Anton Kuivanen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jon Snow!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snow shoots in for a double leg but Kuivanen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kuivanen doesn't manage to clinch there - Snow circles away.
Kuivanen motions for Snow to come forward. Kuivanen throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Snow closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kuivanen did well to prevent Snow getting side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Snow tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kuivanen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Kuivanen is trying to get back to full guard.
Kuivanen is not content to let Snow control the position.

Snow is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kuivanen has managed to free his arm - good work.
Snow wants to stand but Kuivanen has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Snow is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kuivanen is looking for a sweep. Snow is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Snow looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Snow seems to be looking for submissions.
Kuivanen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kuivanen tries to get out of the position.

Snow seems to be looking for submissions.
Snow wants to control but Kuivanen is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snow wants to pass the guard but Kuivanen is defending well.
Snow is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jon Snow wasn't active enough on the ground.
Snow tries for a takedown but Kuivanen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Snow shoots in but Kuivanen avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Anton Kuivanen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Snow.
Kuivanen closes the distance and clinches up with Snow, looking for a takedown. Kuivanen pushes Snow against the cage but Snow circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kuivanen lands a slapping body shot.
Kuivanen has a takedown stuffed.

Kuivanen misses with a wild body shot.
Snow stuffs the takedown attempt from Kuivanen. Kuivanen gets slowly back to his feet.
Kuivanen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Snow sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kuivanen somewhat.
Snow gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kuivanen counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Snow!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kuivanen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Snow is looking to escape.
Snow is looking to improve his position but Kuivanen isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jon Snow will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kuivanen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Snow's waist but Snow gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kuivanen off to one side.
Kuivanen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Snow paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Snow misses with a takedown
and Kuivanen counters with a one-two to the body.
Kuivanen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Snow swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Snow moves out of range of the body kick from Kuivanen.
Kuivanen tries to clinch there but Snow circles away.

Snow gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Snow controls Kuivanen momentarily but Kuivanen frees himself.
Snow trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snow not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jon Snow was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Snow closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kuivanen did well to prevent Snow getting side control.

Snow trying to control from Kuivanen's half guard. Kuivanen has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Kuivanen looking for a guillotine here but Snow defends easily.
Kuivanen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Snow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kuivanen doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Kuivanen is looking for a triangle here but Snow uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Snow has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Snow misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kuivanen thuds his shin into the meat of Snow's side.
Kuivanen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anton Kuivanen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kuivanen tries to clinch up.
Kuivanen tries to clinch but Snow moves out of range.

Snow drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Snow is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kuivanen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kuivanen wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

A close second round but Jon Snow will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Kuivanen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kuivanen moves into range and clinches up with Snow.

Snow breaks the clinch.
Kuivanen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Snow tries to avoid it but Kuivanen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Snow to the ground. Snow escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kuivanen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Snow to the ground. Kuivanen is now in Snow's guard.
Snow is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Snow looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Snow looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Snow is trying to keep Kuivanen in close.
Kuivanen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Snow is proving hard to escape from.

Snow seems keen to control Kuivanen's posture.

Snow kicks Kuivanen off and gets to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kuivanen tries to advance to mount but Snow denies him.
Snow can't do much from the bottom here.
Snow is not content to let Kuivanen control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kuivanen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Snow, who protects the arm well.
Snow gets back to half guard.
Snow regains full guard. Nicely done.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Anton Kuivanen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jon Snow is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Snow looking for a sweep. Not yet Snow, not yet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Anton Kuivanen.
I think Snow has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
