Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Bissi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Sweeney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Bissi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Damien Sweeney!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bissi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Bissi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bissi won't allow Sweeney to sweep him here.
Bissi tries to free his leg and advance position but Sweeney is retaining full guard.
Bissi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bissi lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Bissi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bissi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bissi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sweeney as he avoids it easily.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sweeney has eaten all the pies!

Bissi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jon Bissi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bissi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Sweeney shoots in looking for a takedown. Bissi tries to sprawl out of it but Sweeney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bissi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sweeney shoots in but Bissi avoids the takedown attempt easily.

No joy there for Sweeney, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bissi stuffs the takedown.
Bissi darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Bissi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Bissi wants to take a breather but Sweeney is having none of it.
Bissi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sweeney is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bissi scores with a couple of nice shots.

Bissi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Sweeney enables Bissi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sweeney manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sweeney working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bissi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bissi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bissi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Bissi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sweeney postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bissi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sweeney, into his guard.

Bissi stands and steps away. Sweeney gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Bissi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bissi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sweeney doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bissi.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Sweeney fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bissi avoids it really well and circles away.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bissi.

Bissi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bissi uses his free foot to push down on Sweeney's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sweeney.

Damien Sweeney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jon Bissi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bissi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well Bissi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
