PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby TupperII (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goran Spaten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spaten has chosen Knockin Boots by Candyman as his entrance music. Goran Spaten will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobby TupperII!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Goran Spaten!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spaten tries to clinch but fails miserably

and TupperII counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Spaten's guard now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
TupperII stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spaten swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Spaten is looking to stand up but TupperII isn't so interested in that idea.
TupperII looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

TupperII drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Spaten manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now TupperII has Spaten in his guard.

Spaten stands and steps away. TupperII gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Goran Spaten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Spaten tries to land a front kick but TupperII steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
TupperII shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Spaten but Spaten pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Spaten wants to clinch but TupperII slips to the side

and TupperII counters by clinching up.

TupperII breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Spaten avoiding damage under a succession of punches from TupperII.

Spaten is defending against the submission attempts here by TupperII.
TupperII looks to land a strike but Spaten avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Spaten is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
TupperII has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Spaten is proving hard to escape from.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

TupperII drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Spaten dives on top into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Spaten trying to control but TupperII is working from the bottom.

TupperII escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Spaten gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Spaten wants to pass the guard but TupperII is keeping the position.
Spaten missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
TupperII looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Spaten trying to control but TupperII is working from the bottom.
TupperII wants to improve his position but instead Spaten has moved into half guard.
Spaten tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

TupperII looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Spaten drops an elbow to the side of TupperII's head.

Spaten is keen to just control but TupperII is a slippery customer.

You can see the frustration on TupperII's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Spaten wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by TupperII, who protects the arm well.
TupperII might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Spaten tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
TupperII is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The fight stays on the outside here - Spaten looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and TupperII counters with a takedown into side control.
TupperII wants to control but Spaten is keeping him busy.

Spaten takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

TupperII tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
TupperII throws a strike aimed at the side of Spaten's head but Spaten avoids it well.

TupperII goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Spaten rolls with the submission and now he's on top in TupperII's guard! Nice work there by Spaten!
Spaten wants to control from the top but TupperII keeps moving.

Spaten got a little sloppy there for a moment and TupperII has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spaten has managed to get both his arms back between TupperII's legs - danger averted.

Goran Spaten has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
TupperII dives in and grabs Spaten's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spaten pushes down on TupperII's head and hops out.

TupperII moves into range and clinches up with Spaten.
A frustrated look appears on TupperII's face as he tries to break the clinch.

TupperII is trying to control the position but Spaten postures up.
TupperII wants to sweep but no luck.
Spaten wants to control from the top but TupperII keeps moving.

Spaten is thwarting TupperII's attempts to control the position.

TupperII has Spaten pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. TupperII pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Spaten tumbling to the mat - TupperII dives into Spaten's guard.

TupperII is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Spaten is just riding it out for now. TupperII eventually gives up the hold.

Spaten stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Spaten wants it to stay on the feet.
