Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cavalcante drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Machida crunches a lovely knee into Cavalcante's ribcage.
Cavalcante blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Machida is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Cavalcante's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Matt Machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Machida throws a head kick that half lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Cavalcante takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Machida pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cavalcante has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Machida clinches with his opponent.

Cavalcante lands a takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Cavalcante trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cavalcante accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cavalcante working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Cavalcante drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Cavalcante as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Machida screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Cavalcante! Nice submission victory there!
