A fine choice. Cyr has chosen Gros Jambon as his entrance music. Shawn Carter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter fakes the leg kick and cracks Cyr in the body.
Cyr jabs Carter right on the nose. Carter blinks but takes it well.
It looks like Shawn Carter has been cut.
Cyr throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Carter counters with a straight right hand.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Cyr.
Cyr tries to close the distance and clinch but Carter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cyr wants to clinch up but Carter keeps it at a distance.
Carter misses with a low kick.
Carter tries a head kick but it misses.
Cyr tries to clinch but Carter moves out of range.
Carter lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cyr's sensitive parts.
Cyr looks to land a combination but Carter avoids it well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cyr takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Carter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A jab lands there for Carter.
Carter throws a leg kick but Cyr sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Carter's corner calls for a 1-2. Carter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Cyr with a lazy takedown attempt
and Cyr takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Carter will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cyr.
Cyr takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carter is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

That kick from Carter tenderised Cyr's leg. Cyr is trying to keep his angry face on.
Carter smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Cyr finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Cyr throws a sloppy head kick and Carter moves out of range easily.

and Carter counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Cyr on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Carter closes the distance and clinches.
Carter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Crunch! Carter slams his shin into Cyr's torso.
Cyr tries to clinch but Carter moves out of range.
Cyr takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Cyr stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Carter.
Cyr chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Carter can pounce on him.
Cyr tries to clinch up.
Carter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cyr takes a knee to the side of the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carter lands a damaging elbow.
Carter lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Come on Carter - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Cyr is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Carter gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Shawn Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cyprien Noe Cyr.

Carter looking to throw knees to the head but Cyr is blocking nicely.
Carter creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Cyr's defenses.
That has opened up Cyprien Noe Cyr's cut even more.
Cyr has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Carter.
Carter digs a right hand into Cyr's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Cyr's gas tank.
Nice elbow from Carter.
A head punch on the inside from Cyr fails to land.
Carter misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Carter scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Carter lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Carter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Carter connects with a nice looking jab.
Carter thumps Cyr with a low kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Cyr tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Carter avoids it.
Cyr managing to block the knees to the body from Carter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shawn Carter dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Cyr on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Carter. Carter obviously looking to wear him down.

Carter with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Carter throws a sloppy head kick and Cyr moves out of range easily.
Carter scores with a hook to the body. Cyr takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

and Carter counters with an outside leg kick.
Cyr's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Carter checks a leg kick.
Cyr steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Carter. That one must have hurt.
Cyprien Noe Cyr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carter lands with a nice body kick.

A nice inside leg kick there by Carter. That's going to slow Cyr down.
Cyr tries to clinch but Carter moves away
and Carter counters with a crisp right that sends Cyr to the canvas! Carter follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

After winning the bout, Shawn Carter thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
