Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Sahebt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Karl Socha!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sahebt is trying hard to land a takedown here. Socha sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sahebt dives in and grabs Socha's left leg, looking for a takedown. Socha pushes down on Sahebt's head and hops out.
Sahebt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Sahebt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No joy there for Sahebt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Socha throws a low kick but Sahebt avoids it.

Sahebt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Socha looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sahebt thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Socha tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sahebt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Socha is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sahebt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sahebt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sahebt is working to tighten is grip on Socha's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Socha has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Sahebt is really squeezing tight and eventually Socha passes out! Sahebt breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). James Sahebt!
James Sahebt was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
