Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hilio Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denilson Braga!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Braga throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Braga sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Braga is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gracie is controlling the pace.
Gracie lands with a punch from half guard.
Gracie works his way into side control.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gracie is putting a hurting on Braga here, landing some big shots from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Braga is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Braga down.
Braga is not content to let Gracie control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie advances to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gracie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Gracie breaks from Braga's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Braga taking shots to the head.

Braga is rocked!
Gracie is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Braga is still on wobbly legs! Can Gracie finish him?
Braga tries to sprawl but Gracie drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie scores with a big shot! Braga's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Braga! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hilio Gracie!
