Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Thompson misses.
Thompson throws a right hand that misses
and Thompson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Thompson throws the left hand but Longbird avoids the punch easily.
Longbird defending well as Thompson loads up on a big left hand.

Thompson throws a jab but it's blocked by Longbird.
Thompson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Longbird moves away.

It looks like Jet Thompson has been cut.
Longbird bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Thompson's head backwards.

Thompson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Longbird.

Thompson is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Longbird misses with a hook. Thompson ducked under it nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Longbird tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Thompson swivels and escapes.

and Longbird counters with a straight right hand.

Thompson cracks Longbird with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Thompson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Longbird swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Thompson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Longbird wants to stand up but Thompson is controlling him.
Longbird will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Thompson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Longbird swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Thompson throws a strike but Longbird rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Thompson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Thompson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Thompson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Thompson tries to control but Longbird wriggling away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson won't let Longbird get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
