Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fidel Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sho Shinjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castro comes to the cage accompanied by Carlos Puebla - Y En Eso Llego Fidel. Shinjo has chosen Theme of Sho as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fidel Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sho Shinjo!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castro uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shinjo.
Shinjo fails with the takedown.
Shinjo looks to land a right hand but Castro moved out of range.
Castro tests Shinjo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Castro scores with a nice strike.
Castro lunges at Shinjo with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Shinjo's hand.
Shinjo scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Castro doesn't seem bothered though.

Shinjo closes the distance and clinches.
Castro lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Shinjo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Shinjo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Castro dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shinjo shoots in looking for a takedown. Castro tries to sprawl out of it but Shinjo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Castro manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shinjo ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Castro moves away.
Shinjo misses with a straight left.

Shinjo with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Castro to score with a decent uppercut.

Castro rushes Shinjo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Castro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shinjo keeps working.
Castro drops an elbow to the side of Shinjo's head.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Castro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Shinjo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Castro's half guard.

Shinjo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Castro defends it well.
Castro has his hands clasped together around Shinjo's back. He's all about the action.

Castro has hold of Shinjo's hands but Shinjo slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Shinjo looks to land a strike but Castro avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Castro lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shinjo!

Shinjo has hold of Castro's hands but Castro slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Castro thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shinjo's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Shinjo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fidel Castro will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Castro is pressed up against the cage. Shinjo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Castro down to the mat. Castro avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fidel Castro.
Well Castro has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
