The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaw connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Conteh misses with the combination.
Diaw misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Conteh.

Diaw's jab looks to have found its range, popping Conteh under the eye.
Diaw misses with a hook. Conteh ducked under it nicely.

Diaw throws an overhand right that lands on Conteh's shoulder, as Conteh tries to avoid the shot.
Diaw tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Conteh swivels and escapes.
Diaw tries to close the distance and clinch up but Conteh swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Diaw blocks a jab.

Conteh avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Conteh throws a hook but Diaw avoids it easily.
Conteh connects with a good right hand that stumbles Diaw. Diaw circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Conteh with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Diaw to score with a decent uppercut.
Conteh takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Diaw ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Conteh moves away.
Diaw thows a left - swing and a miss!
Diaw wants to clinch up but Conteh keeps it at a distance.
Conteh misses with an uppercut.

Conteh drives through and clinches with Diaw against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Conteh lands a left hand.
Diaw throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Conteh blocks it with crossed arms.
Diaw goes for a takedown attempt but Conteh pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Conteh takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Conteh moves into the clinch successfully.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Conteh creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
A nice left hand lands by Conteh.
Conteh swings wildly with an uppercut but Diaw uses good head movement to avoid it.
Conteh tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Diaw is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Diaw takes a shot to the head.
Diaw jumps guard but Conteh stands there with Diaw around his waist. Diaw gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hakeem Diaw. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Still in the clinch, Conteh scores with a nice short uppercut.
Diaw trying to control the position but instead, Conteh has worked for underhooks and has pushed Diaw into the cage.
Conteh lands with a left to the head.

Diaw is rocked!
Diaw tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Conteh just stands there and leans against the cage.
Diaw is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Diaw is trying to pull guard but Conteh turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Diaw moves in looking to clinch but Conteh pushes him off.
Conteh tries to clinch up but Diaw circles away and keeps his distance.

Conteh lands a big uppercut and Diaw crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Diaw looks OK. Conteh waves Diaw back to his feet!
Oh Diaw is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Conteh cracks Diaw with a left hook right on the temple and Diaw goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Conteh lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Diaw is OK!
