Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Loow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Loow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Cormier!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loow fails with a takedown attempt.
Cormier looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Cormier shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Loow scores with a leg kick.
Horrible takedown by Loow or perhaps it was just good defense by Cormier which made him look bad.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cormier.
Loow connects with a high kick.


It looks like Daniel Cormier has been cut.
A slow jab from Loow misses its intended target.
Cormier stuffs the takedown attempt from Loow. Loow gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Loow. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Loow misses with a takedown attempt - Cormier sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Daniel Cormier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Loow slaps away a takedown attempt from Cormier, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cormier leaves Loow with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Loow.
Loow tries to bum rush Cormier with a series of wild strikes but Cormier uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Loow shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cormier lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

Loow is looking to take a break and control but Cormier is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cormier tries to get to full guard but Loow has control of the leg.
Cormier tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Loow seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cormier does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Loow stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Cormier to get to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Loow is defended easily by Cormier.

Cormier closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Cormier prevents Loow from standing back up.
Cormier stalling.
Cormier thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cormier thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Loow's head.

Loow looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Cormier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Loow. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cormier takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Loow fails with a takedown attempt.

Cormier will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Loow misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Loow is looking to control Cormier's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Loow avoid being mounted?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cormier drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cormier jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Loow utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cormier postures up in Loow's guard and throws a big left but Loow blocks it.
Loow manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cormier manages to get himself to full guard.
Loow wants to control from the top but Cormier keeps moving.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Loow's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Loow controls from within his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Loow gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Loow doesn't manage to clinch there - Cormier circles away.

Cormier tries to score a power double leg takedown but Loow sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cormier somewhat.
Loow shoots in for a takedown but Cormier shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Loow bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cormier's guard.
Cormier wants to sweep but no luck.
Loow will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Loow throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cormier works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Loow tries to stand but Cormier is controlling from the bottom.

Cormier pulls Loow in close to his closed guard and prevents Loow from doing any damage or advancing position.
Cormier doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Cormier had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Loow defends it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Loow wants to control from the top but Cormier keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loow is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cormier is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Andy Loow will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Loow escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cormier gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cormier looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Loow pushes Cormier off and gets back to his feet.

Loow is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cormier defends well.
Cormier content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Loow avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cormier has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Loow is proving hard to escape from.
Loow is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cormier accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cormier postures up and lands a big shot to Loow's brow.
Cormier stands up over Loow, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Loow kicks Cormier off and gets to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loow shoots in looking for a takedown but Cormier manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Loow's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A combination from Loow does no damage.

Daniel Cormier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andy Loow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cormier avoids the head kick by Loow.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Andy Loow.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Loow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
