Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demian Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Demian Maia told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar cracks Maia with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Maia shoots for a takedown but Escobar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Maia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Maia fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Escobar avoids it really well and circles away.
Pablo Escobar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Demian Maia.
A jab lands there for Escobar.
Escobar lands a lovely overhand right.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Maia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Escobar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maia somewhat.
Escobar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Maia's hands.

Escobar lands a big uppercut and Maia crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Maia looks OK. Escobar waves Maia back to his feet!
Escobar throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Maia is rocked!

Maia closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Maia is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Escobar defends it well.
Escobar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Escobar.

Escobar is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Maia is trying to pull guard but Escobar has him pressed against the cage.
Escobar lands a hook to the side of the head.
Escobar pushes Maia back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Maia looks gassed!
Escobar gets through Maia's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Escobar lands with a left to the head.
Escobar will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Maia up against the cage.
Escobar lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Maia looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Maia shoots in for a takedown but Escobar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Escobar lets loose with a powerful body kick. Maia will feel that in the morning.

Pablo Escobar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Escobar cracks Maia with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Maia tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Escobar pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Maia is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
