PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bernard Nyamondi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandre Preuss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nyamondi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is A Warriors Call. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bernard Nyamondi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexandre Preuss!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preuss throws a right and a left that both miss.
Preuss throws a series of punches but Nyamondi avoids them all with ease.
Preuss looks to land a combination but Nyamondi avoids it well.
Preuss feints a jab promting Nyamondi to slip. Preuss then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Nyamondi slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Nyamondi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Nyamondi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Preuss's guard.

Nyamondi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Nyamondi pushing down on Preuss's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Nyamondi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Nyamondi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Preuss tries to kick Nyamondi off but Nyamondi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Nyamondi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Preuss keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Preuss is staying active underneath Nyamondi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nyamondi uses his free foot to push down on Preuss's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Preuss.
Nyamondi tries to control but Preuss wriggling away.

Nyamondi is working for a guillotine from mount but Preuss frees his head quite easily.
Nyamondi trying to control but Preuss is having none of it.
Preuss tries to buck Nyamondi off but he can't manage it.

Preuss wants to control but Nyamondi is having none of it.

Nyamondi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Preuss can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Nyamondi looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Preuss can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nyamondi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Preuss manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Nyamondi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nyamondi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nyamondi is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Preuss has escaped the position, nice work there.

Nyamondi has control of Preuss's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Preuss regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Preuss is looking to improve his position but Nyamondi isn't that keen on the idea.

Nyamondi quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Nyamondi but it's paid off an Preuss is forced to tap! Nice work by Nyamondi.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bernard Nyamondi!
A relieved looking Bernard Nyamondi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
