The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn dips to his left and cracks Cherry with an uppercut!
BJ Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cherry.
Penn lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Cherry postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Penn looks a forlorn figure.

Penn wants to control but Cherry is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Penn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Penn is bucking up trying to escape but Cherry cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cherry lands a nice shot to the head.
Cherry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cherry is landing with some decent strikes but Penn is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Cherry postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Penn bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Cherry and the fight is over!
