PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nir Sosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nir Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Boyd!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sosa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like Robert Boyd has been cut.
Boyd swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Sosa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Boyd's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sosa connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Boyd scrambles back to his feet.
Sosa lands a right hook to the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Boyd fails with the takedown.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boyd takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Sosa lands a nice shot to the body.
Sosa lands a nice looking body shot.
Boyd is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sosa.
Boyd looks gassed!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sosa throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Boyd stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Boyd takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Nir Sosa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A shot to the liver by Sosa. Beautiful body shot.

Sosa steps into range and cracks Boyd with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Boyd flops backwards and Sosa dives into his guard looking to finish!


Boyd is rocked!


That has opened up Robert Boyd's cut even more.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Boyd being controlled here, momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nir Sosa has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Sosa catches Boyd napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Boyd to the canvas!
Sosa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sosa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Sosa tries to advance to mount but can't.
Boyd really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sosa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sosa content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nir Sosa wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sosa connects with a nice looking jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nir Sosa dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Robert Boyd's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sosa scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Boyd takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Sosa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boyd can do to turn this around?
Boyd on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Sosa connects with a right hand. Boyd shakes it off.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sosa scores with a jab to the body.
Nice body punch from Sosa.
Sosa lands a nice hook to Boyd's body. Boyd takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Boyd ducks right into an uppercut from Sosa.


The cut above Robert Boyd's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Sosa throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Boyd is breathing heavily.

Sosa throws a shot to the body.
Sosa lands a nice looking body shot.
Sosa connects with a body shot that sends Boyd's belly button to the back.
Robert Boyd is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sosa lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Boyd falls backwards - clearly groggy! Sosa dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
