The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith scores with a hook.
Smith looks to score with a jab to the body but Betoni is just out of range.
Smith bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Betoni gets tackled into the cage by Smith. Smith maintains the clinch.
Smith presses Betoni against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Betoni creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Smith gets through Betoni's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Smith misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Smith swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Betoni has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Smith is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Betoni.

Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Betoni was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith.

Betoni uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith.
Betoni looks for the body kick but Smith saw that one coming.
Smith ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Betoni manages to avoid it.

and Betoni counters with a low kick, right behind Smith 's knee.
Betoni throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Smith looks winded!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Betoni can pounce on him.
Betoni is looking to slow Smith down with leg kicks.
Betoni throws a right and a left that both miss.

Crunch! Betoni slams his shin into Smith's torso.
Sloppy strikes from Betoni. Those never looked like landing.
Smith slips a jab from Betoni.
Betoni lands a jab.
Smith blocks a head kick by Betoni.

Betoni feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Smith sprawling to the canvas! Smith rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Betoni finish him?!
Smith misses the jab.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Betoni lands a big head kick that sends Smith tumbling to the mat! Betoni takes a step backwards and waves Smith back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Smith is rocked!
Betoni throws a powerful right kick. Smith tried to block low but the kick was high! Smith was taken right off of his feet! Betoni jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
