Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dalton Little (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dalton Little!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Antonio Gates!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Little walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gates checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Little takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Gates fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Little, pushing him back against the cage.
Gates slows down the pace here.
Little is trying to break the clinch but Gates has him pressed against the cage.
Little on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Gates manages to break the clinch.
Gates shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Little as he jumps to the side.
Little throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Gates looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Little is fending him off so far but Gates persists. Nope, Little circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck for Gates with that takedown attempt.
Dalton Little has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Gates.
Gates throws a right and a left that both miss.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gates.
Gates avoids a punch combination nicely.

Antonio Gates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gates tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Little manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gates jumps guard but Little stands there with Gates around his waist. Gates gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Gates has Little pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Gates pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Little tumbling to the mat - Gates dives into Little's guard.
Little knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gates on the ground.

Gates is standing up over Little. Little looks to escape but Gates dives into side control.

Gates takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Antonio Gates showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gates has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Little uses from the top position.

Antonio Gates is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Gates has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
