The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asashoryu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cartman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Yokozuna Asashoryu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Asashoryu throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cartman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Asashoryu lands with a nice body punch.
Asashoryu throws a sloppy head kick and Cartman moves out of range easily.
Some wild striking there from Asashoryu.
Cartman tries for a takedown but Asashoryu sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Asashoryu lands a jab to Cartman's midsection.
Cartman is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Asashoryu moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Cartman goes down! Can Asashoryu finish him!?

It looks like Eric Cartman has been cut.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Asashoryu gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Asashoryu misses with a jab, cross combination.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Asashoryu moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Cartman! Asashoryu continues to tee off on Cartman, landing with a left and a right! Asashoryu connects with a right hand that leaves Cartman sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Asashoryu!
