PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abel Speed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Stern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Speed might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Limp Bizkit / Break Stuff. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Abel Speed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jason Stern!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Speed misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stern.
Speed throws a big shot that misses.
Speed shoots for a double leg takedown but Stern sprawls well. He's pushed Speed's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Stern throws out a loose jab but Speed uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stern misses with a looping left.
Speed looks to score with a jab to the body but Stern is just out of range.
Speed on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Abel Speed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stern scores with a shot to the body.
Stern cracks Speed with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Stern slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Stern bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Speed's guard.

Speed is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stern is aware though and is defending well.

Speed isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stern stacks Speed on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stern!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Speed tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Stern wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Abel Speed will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
