PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tad Ghostal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AL Lickertwat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ghostal comes into the arena with Good King Wenceslas blaring out of the sound system. Tad Ghostal has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tad Ghostal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, AL Lickertwat!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lickertwat throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ghostal sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lickertwat fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ghostal looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ghostal stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lickertwat.
Ghostal fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lickertwat scores with the left hand. Ghostal knows he should have avoided that one.
Lickertwat tries for a takedown but Ghostal sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lickertwat misses with a low kick.
Lickertwat misses with a hook. Ghostal ducked under it nicely.
AL Lickertwat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ghostal gets the takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
You can see the frustration on Lickertwat's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ghostal is looking to take a break and control but Lickertwat is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ghostal goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lickertwat has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ghostal but great work by Lickertwat.

Ghostal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ghostal is trying to stick to Lickertwat's back but Lickertwat is turning into Ghostal. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ghostal's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Lickertwat.

AL Lickertwat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Some bone on bone action there as Ghostal checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Ghostal throws a leg kick which misses Lickertwat's front leg but catches the back leg as Lickertwat tries to avoid it.

and Ghostal makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ghostal takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Lickertwat throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ghostal pivots, looking for a leg kick but Lickertwat is out of range and Ghostal settles back down.

Lickertwat closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ghostal's guard.
Lickertwat throws an elbow that misses. Ghostal uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lickertwat's guard. Nice move by Ghostal!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tad Ghostal.
I think Ghostal has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
