PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Knarles Grunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sevent Seagull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grunt comes into the arena with BLUNT- The Iron Maiden blaring out of the sound system. Seagull is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Van Halen - Jump. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grunt loads up on a big right hand but Seagull slips the punch.

Seagull has managed to clinch.
Grunt is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Seagull lands with a short shot to the head.
Seagull misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Grunt.
Grunt stalling in the clinch but Seagull improves position.

Grunt gets control of Seagull's arms and successfully pulls guard. Grunt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grunt has his foot on Seagull's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Seagull works his way back into a safe position though.

Seagull got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grunt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Seagull has managed to get both his arms back between Grunt's legs - danger averted.

Grunt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Seagull gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Seagull wants to get up but he can't break Grunt's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Seagull must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Grunt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Seagull gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Grunt wants to sweep here but Seagull controlling him for the moment.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Seagull is pushing down on Grunt's leg trying to pass to half guard. Grunt is fighting to maintain full guard but Seagull has managed to sneak the leg through.

That was a close round but I would say that Knarles Grunt will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Seagull wants to clinch up but Grunt keeps it at a distance.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Seagull. Grunt shrugs it off though.
Seagull ducks under a wild hook from Grunt.
Grunt takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Grunt will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

Seagull moves forwards but Grunt connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Seagull leaves Grunt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Grunt is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Seagull tries to land a front kick but Grunt steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Seagull will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Grunt tries to move to mount but Seagull blocks the move with his legs.

Grunt goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Seagull has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Grunt but great work by Seagull.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Seagull decides to stand up, so the ref orders Grunt to his feet.
Seagull tries to close the distance and clinch but Grunt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sevent Seagull.
I think Seagull has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
