Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Choake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Choake comes to the cage accompanied by Hans Zimmer - The Kraken. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jermaine Choake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Shields!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choake lands with a nice body punch.
Choake tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shields swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Choake moves into the clinch.
Choake lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Choake lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


It looks like Jake Shields has been cut.
Shields tries to stall but Choake uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Choake wants the takedown. Shields is fighting it off but Choake persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Shields's guard against the cage.

Choake got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shields has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Choake has managed to get both his arms back between Shields's legs - danger averted.
Choake in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Shields has momentary wrist control but Choake slips an elbow through the middle.
Choake wants to control from the top but Shields keeps moving.
Shields is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Choake tries to free his leg and advance position but Shields is retaining full guard.
Choake working some strikes from top position.
Choake lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Shields avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Choake trying to control the position from guard on top but Shields is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Choake cracks Shields with a solid left hand.
Shields is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Choake showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Choake postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Shields looking for a guillotine here but Choake defends easily.
Choake working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shields's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Choake is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Choake looking to pass the guard.
Shields is trying to keep Choake in close.

Shields working for submissions but it's allowed Choake to get to half guard.

Choake is looking for a kimura but Shields is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Choake to get the leverage.
Shields trying to control from the bottom.

Shields is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Choake pulls his head out easily.
Choake landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Choake keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Choake seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Choake has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shields is refusing to be controlled, as Choake sits in half guard.
Choake wants to pass to mount but Shields is defending the position.
Choake has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shields is wriggling around trying to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Choake raining down hammerfists from mount.
Shields wants to control but Choake is having none of it.
Choake is in the full mount, landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Shields is looking for a sweep.
Choake working the body and head with strikes.
Choake creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Choake looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Shields manages to get back to half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Choake lands a nice short elbow.
Shields is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Choake jumps into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shields trying his best to control but Choake has mounted him.

Choake avoids the attempt from Shields to control.
You get the feeling that Shields really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Choake lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Shields hang on?
Choake controlling the pace for now.
Choake pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Choake working the ground and pound effectively.


That has opened up Jake Shields's cut even more.
Choake looking to control but Shields is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Choake is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Shields is surviving well by controlling Choake's body position as best he can.
Choake tries to control but Shields wriggling away.

Shields is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Choake landing shots from mount.
Shields is trying desperately to improve position.

Choake working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Choake looking to finish Shields with some ground and pound. This is bad for Shields!


The cut above Jake Shields's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jake Shields's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
