Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tong Van damm!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oquendo misses with a body shot.
Oquendo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Van damm.
Oquendo thows a left - swing and a miss!

Van damm gets a double leg takedown into Oquendo's guard.
Oquendo trying to keep a closed guard but Van damm is proving a slippery customer.
Van damm working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tong Van damm wasn't active enough on the ground.
Van damm pivots, looking for a leg kick but Oquendo is out of range and Van damm settles back down.
Oquendo leaves Van damm with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Oquendo takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Van damm gets a takedown into half guard.
Van damm thows a huge punch but Oquendo dodges it nicely.
Oquendo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Van damm seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Oquendo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Van damm is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Van damm wants to pass to mount but Oquendo is defending the position.
Van damm is looking to take a break and control but Oquendo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tong Van damm wasn't active enough on the ground.
Van damm throws a hook but Oquendo avoids it easily.
Van damm lands with a shot to the body.
The fighters circling - Oquendo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Van damm shoots in and drives through. Oquendo sprawls well.
Jose Oquendo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tong Van damm.

and Oquendo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
No luck for Van damm with that takedown attempt.
Van damm closes the distance and clinches up with Oquendo, looking for a takedown. Van damm pushes Oquendo against the cage but Oquendo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oquendo takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Oquendo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Van damm tries to clinch but Oquendo moves out of range.
Van damm throws a sloppy head kick and Oquendo moves out of range easily.
Oquendo bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Oquendo.
Oquendo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Van damm moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Oquendo throws a body kick that misses.
Van damm takes a kick to the side of the head.
Oquendo looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Van damm moves out of range of the body kick.
Both fighters circling a little - Oquendo finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Oquendo shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Van damm shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Oquendo defends it nicely.

Van damm shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Oquendo sprawls well. Oquendo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Van damm gets slowly back to his feet.
Oquendo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Oquendo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Van damm.
Van damm avoids the body shot from Oquendo.

and Oquendo counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oquendo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Oquendo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Oquendo makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Van damm is breathing heavily.
Oquendo blocks a head kick by Van damm.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Oquendo.
Oquendo throws a half hearted mid kick.
Oquendo throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jose Oquendo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Oquendo digs a good hook to Van damm's body.
A jab from Van damm misses.
Jose Oquendo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oquendo lunges at Van damm with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Van damm's hand.
Van damm ducks right into an uppercut from Oquendo.

Oquendo walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Van damm drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Oquendo swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Van damm's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
