Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Why Cant we Be Friends!. James has chosen The Ultimatum as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesus Gonzalez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Gonzalez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
James scores with a three punch combo!
James throws a big shot that misses.
Gonzalez throws a poor cross that misses
and James counters with a straight right hand.
James moves out of range of the strikes.
Gonzalez misses with a few strikes there.
Gonzalez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gonzalez lands a leg kick that knocks James off balance momentarily.
Gonzalez throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gonzalez misses with a body punch
and James counters with a lovely straight right hand!
James misses with a hook. Gonzalez ducked under it nicely.
Gonzalez slips a jab from James.

James darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

James working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Gonzalez's thigh. Gonzalez counters though and makes it back to full guard.
James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gonzalez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
James working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Gonzalez looking for a sweep. Not yet Gonzalez, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gonzalez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for James!
James sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Gonzalez tries to pass the half guard into mount. James knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Gonzalez is trying to control. James wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
James is looking to improve his position.
Gonzalez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for James!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gonzalez mounts James! Really nice guard pass there!

James is working to get back to half guard.
Gonzalez controlling from mount.
James wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gonzalez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as James is looking to escape.
James is trying to reverse the position but instead Gonzalez has taken his back - oops!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James is really stuck here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rip James will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Gonzalez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gonzalez lands a jab.
Gonzalez wants to clinch.
James takes a swing at Gonzalez's ribcage but misses.

Gonzalez moves into the clinch.

Gonzalez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Excellent takedown into side control there by James.

James goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gonzalez rolls with the submission and now he's on top in James's guard! Nice work there by Gonzalez!

James looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gonzalez has picked James up and slammed him! James can't keep hold of the triangle and Gonzalez manages to pass to side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
James is not content to let Gonzalez control the position.
James tries to bench press Gonzalez off him but Gonzalez keeps the position.
James is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Gonzalez wants to control but James is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gonzalez taking a breather here.
James is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Gonzalez is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Gonzalez manages to capitalize on a mistake by James to take his back!
Gonzalez really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for James.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Gonzalez's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Gonzalez wants to control the position but James frees himself and scrambles - Gonzalez manages to regain control in side control.
James regains half guard.

Gonzalez stands up from half guard.
James shoots in for a double leg but Gonzalez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
James will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gonzalez's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gonzalez duly obliges.
Gonzalez throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Gonzalez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gonzalez throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Gonzalez here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
James keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Gonzalez throws a big shot that misses.
Gonzalez throws a lazy right hand but James sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gonzalez jabs James to the body, keeping him at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Gonzalez does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gonzalez tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gonzalez misses the jab.
Gonzalez misses with a hook.
Gonzalez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesus Gonzalez dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches.

James is trying to pull guard but Gonzalez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
James goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gonzalez prevents it.
A nice right hand lands inside from Gonzalez.
James drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gonzalez pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jesus Gonzalez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rip James.
Jab, jab by Gonzalez - just one landing.
Gonzalez lands an overhand right.


James is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
James throws a head kick that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
James is still on wobbly legs! Can Gonzalez finish him?
Gonzalez steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! James is out on his feet! Gonzalez sets himself and nearly takes James's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jesus Gonzalez!

An intense looking Jesus Gonzalez took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Thank you everybody for your support on my comeback! I am a warrior, and I am the hardest hitter in history. Most feared in the world..STILL! Mexico baby! Thank you Bradley Burns!!!!'.
