Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fenton Meeks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Woo!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meeks misses with a hook. Woo ducked under it nicely.

Meeks rushes Woo and presses him up against the cage.

Woo jumps into guard, dragging Meeks to the mat.
Meeks wants to stand but Woo is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meeks postures up.
Meeks wants to get up but he can't break Woo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Meeks gets to his feet - Woo follows without any prompting.
Woo walks into a stiff left hand from Meeks.
Woo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Meeks sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Woo somewhat.
Woo on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Nice takedown defense from Meeks. No joy for Woo on that attempt.
Meeks getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Woo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Meeks's waist but Meeks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Woo off to one side.
Fenton Meeks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Woo.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Meeks enables Woo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Meeks manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Meeks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Meeks decides to stand and escape the position.
Meeks throws a sloppy head kick and Woo moves out of range easily.

Meeks misses with a two punch combination.

A nice combination there by Meeks.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Woo is looking to clinch but Meeks is avoiding it.
Woo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Woo walks into a left hand.
Woo misses with a combination
and Meeks counters with a stiff right hand.
Meeks lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Woo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Woo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Meeks stuffs the takedown.
Meeks falls off balance throwing a combination

and Woo counters with a nice double leg into side control. Meeks won't be happy with that.

Woo tries for a kimura but Meeks is defending well.

Woo is trying to get an arm triangle but Meeks is defending well.

Meeks is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Meeks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Woo on the ground.

Woo with a couple of short strikes.

Woo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Meeks can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Woo with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

A close round but Johnny Woo will probably get the nod.

Woo drives through and clinches with Meeks against the cage.

Woo jumps guard and drags Meeks to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Meeks wants to stand but Woo is controlling his posture from full guard.

Meeks gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Meeks is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Woo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Meeks circles away.
Meeks tries to close the distance and clinch but Woo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Meeks bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Woo's head.

Woo has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Woo is looking to clinch but Meeks is avoiding it.

Meeks looks to land a right hand but Woo moved out of range.

Meeks has managed to clinch.
Woo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Fenton Meeks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Woo.
Woo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Meeks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Woo is working for takedown but Meeks is calmly controlling the position for now.

Woo is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Meeks is keeping busy.
Woo takes a shot to the head.
Woo lands a right hand.
Meeks tries to throw a body punch but Woo avoids it by throwing Meeks back against the cage.
Woo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Meeks.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Woo misses with an elbow strike.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Meeks avoiding damage as Woo throws knees to the body.
Meeks is pressed up against the cage. Woo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Meeks down to the mat. Meeks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Meeks shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Woo eats them both and turns towards Meeks to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Woo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Meeks sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Woo somewhat.
Woo is breathing heavily.

Woo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fenton Meeks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Meeks moves into the clinch.
Woo managing to block the knees to the body from Meeks.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Woo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Meeks fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Meeks swats away the attempt to clinch by Woo.
Woo misses with a right hand
and Meeks counters with a stiff right hand.
Meeks feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Woos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Woo tries to close the distance and clinch but Meeks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fenton Meeks.
I think Meeks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
