And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Philippe Njewel!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Njewel misses with a body shot.
Nice defenses there by Beckett.
Beckett fails with a takedown attempt.
Beckett throws a hook but Njewel avoids it easily.
Njewel swings widly with a right hand
and Beckett counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Beckett fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Njewel sprawls well initially but Beckett persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Beckett drops an elbow to the side of Njewel's head.

Njewel tries to get to full guard but Beckett has control of the leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Beckett misses with an uppercut
and Njewel makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Njewel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beckett was well out of range. Poor timing from Njewel.
Beckett digs a good body shot into Njewel's ribs.
Njewel comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Beckett avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

The crowd cheers as Beckett lands an impressive looking overhand right. Njewel doesn't seem phased though.

Beckett shoots in and gets a takedown into Njewel's guard.
Beckett postures up in Njewel's guard and throws a big left but Njewel blocks it.

Njewel has his foot on Beckett's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beckett works his way back into a safe position though.
Beckett stays in close to Njewel's body and controls the position.
Njewel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Beckett passes Njewel's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Still in half guard, Beckett seems content to control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Njewel presses Beckett against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

and Beckett counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Beckett connects with a right hand. Njewel shakes it off.
Beckett paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Njewel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Njewel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Martin Philippe Njewel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Beckett feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Njewel is pulling down on Beckett's head. It's preventing any offense from Beckett, at least for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jim Beckett showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Beckett, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
