Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michiel De Ruyter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Volkov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Trooper by Iron Maiden. De Ruyter has chosen DJ KOOL as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michiel De Ruyter!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
De Ruyter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
De Ruyter trying to pass the guard but Volkov defending well.
Volkov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Volkov is in trouble now - De Ruyter has advanced to mount!
Volkov is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
De Ruyter is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Volkov has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Volkov!
Volkov got a little sloppy there for a moment and De Ruyter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Volkov has managed to get both his arms back between De Ruyter's legs - danger averted.

Volkov throws a strike but De Ruyter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Volkov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Volkov has his hands on De Ruyter's head, controlling the position.
De Ruyter wants to control from the top but Volkov keeps moving.

Volkov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Volkov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
De Ruyter can't keep his opponent in guard - Volkov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
De Ruyter keeping moving, preventing Volkov from controlling successfully.
Volkov wants to stand but De Ruyter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Vincent Volkov will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!
De Ruyter staying out of range there.
Volkov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
De Ruyter's corner calls for a 1-2. De Ruyter obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
No joy there for Volkov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
De Ruyter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Volkov moves out of range as De Ruyter strikes.
Volkov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Volkov is landing with some decent strikes but De Ruyter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
De Ruyter tries to reverse the position but Volkov maintains control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Volkov! De Ruyter is hurt baaadly! Volkov is firing away with more strikes - De Ruyter is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vincent Volkov!
