Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reza Katebi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reza Katebi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katebi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Roberts takes a jab right on the kisser.
Roberts tries to move into range but Katebi moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Roberts bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Katebi's head.
Katebi slips a straight right by Roberts.
Reza Katebi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roberts doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Katebi misses with a takedown attempt - Roberts sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Katebi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Roberts manages to avoid it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Katebi throws a front kick aimed at Roberts's knee but Roberts avoids it well.
A looping hook to the body misses from Katebi. Roberts does a little dance to reset his feet.
Katebi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roberts moves away from the strike by Katebi.
Katebi feints and then cracks Roberts's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Roberts down.
Jab, jab by Katebi - just one landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jim Roberts will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Katebi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Roberts but Roberts pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Katebi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Robertss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Roberts throws a shot from downtown. Katebi moves away and avoids it.
Katebi lands a head kick. Roberts smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Roberts connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Katebi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Roberts wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Katebi.
Katebi throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Katebi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Katebi swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Roberts is now in Katebi's guard. A big mistake from Katebi there, giving up the dominant position!
