PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dean Corcoran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Tokugawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Corcoran might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Lonely Boy. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Corcoran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shogun Tokugawa!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Corcoran has closed the distance and engaged Tokugawa in a clinch.
Corcoran gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Corcoran throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Tokugawa blocks it with crossed arms.
Tokugawa blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Nice elbow from Corcoran.
Tokugawa misses with a knee to the head.
Corcoran with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Corcoran tries a knee to the head but Tokugawa blocks it.
Corcoran tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Tokugawa avoids it.
Tokugawa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Corcoran walks away with a smile on his face. Tokugawa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Corcoran decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tokugawa slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Corcoran knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tokugawa on the ground.
Tokugawa manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Corcoran manages to get himself to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tokugawa trying to control the position from guard on top but Corcoran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Corcoran wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Tokugawa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dean Corcoran.

Corcoran fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tokugawa, pushing him back against the cage.

Corcoran works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Corcoran jumps into guard, dragging Tokugawa to the mat.

Tokugawa passes Corcoran's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Tokugawa decides to stand and escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Corcoran drives through and clinches with Tokugawa against the cage.
Corcoran landing knees to the head.

It looks like Dean Corcoran has been cut.

Corcoran creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Tokugawa's defenses.

Tokugawa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Corcoran walks away with a smile on his face. Tokugawa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Dean Corcoran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shogun Tokugawa.
Corcoran shoots in for a takedown but Tokugawa shows good takedown defense.

Tokugawa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Corcoran uses from the top position.
Corcoran wants to stand but Tokugawa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Tokugawa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Corcoran defends well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Corcoran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tokugawa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Corcoran has managed to get both his arms back between Tokugawa's legs - danger averted.

Corcoran gets to his feet. Tokugawa looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Corcoran closes the distance and clinches up with Tokugawa, looking for a takedown. Corcoran pushes Tokugawa against the cage but Tokugawa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tokugawa feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Corcorans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Corcoran clinches up with Tokugawa and pushes him back against the cage.
Corcoran is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Corcoran landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Tokugawa avoiding damage as Corcoran throws knees to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Tokugawa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tokugawa is trying to force a seperation but Corcoran has the dominant position.
Corcoran lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Corcoran breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tokugawa fails to land with a series of punches.
Nice takedown defense from Tokugawa. No joy for Corcoran on that attempt.
Tokugawa throws a head kick but Corcoran moves out of range.

Tokugawa has Corcoran up against the cage in a clinch.
Tokugawa trying to stall but Corcoran improves his position.
Tokugawa jumps guard but Corcoran stands there with Tokugawa around his waist. Tokugawa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Corcoran lands an elbow just above Tokugawa 's eye.
Tokugawa is trying to drag Corcoran to the mat but Corcoran just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Tokugawa is looking for a takedown.
Dean Corcoran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shogun Tokugawa.

and Tokugawa counters with a big head kick but Corcoran shrugs it off.

Tokugawa is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Corcoran gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Corcoran has Tokugawa up against the cage in a clinch.
Corcoran manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Corcoran misses with a knee to the head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Corcoran wants the takedown. Tokugawa is fighting it off but Corcoran persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tokugawa's guard against the cage.

Corcoran tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tokugawa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Tokugawa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Corcoran is working away from the top position though.
Tokugawa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tokugawa.
Corcoran has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tokugawa is proving hard to escape from.

Tokugawa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Tokugawa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Corcoran kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Corcoran shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tokugawa sprawls well. Tokugawa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Corcoran gets slowly back to his feet.

Tokugawa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Corcoran gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Tokugawa tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Corcoran just stands there and leans against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Corcoran stands up and waves to Tokugawa to follow him.
Corcoran slaps away a takedown attempt from Tokugawa, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Tokugawa makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Corcoran really felt that one!

Corcoran tries to land knees in the clinch but Tokugawa avoids the damage to the body.

Corcoran breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tokugawa shoots in looking for a takedown but Corcoran manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tokugawa's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Corcoran bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Tokugawa has his feet on Corcoran's thighs here. He's pushed Corcoran off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Corcoran screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
