PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Coco Cobb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Coco Cobb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucas Santos!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cobb is looking to clinch.

Santos manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cobb on his heels. He'll look to pass Cobb's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Santos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Santos stopping the sweep attempt from Cobb.
Cobb controls Santos momentarily but Santos frees himself.

Santos gets to his feet - Cobb follows without any prompting.

Cobb is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cobb does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Cobb throws a low kick but Santos avoids it.

Santos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cobb did well to prevent Santos getting side control.
Cobb has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Santos is working away from the top position though.

Santos prevents Cobb from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Santos is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lucas Santos.
Cobb throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Santos closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Let's hope that Santos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Santos passes to full mount!
Cobb is trying to escape the mount.

Santos jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cobb is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cobb and Santos has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Santos tries for a kimura but Cobb is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Santos dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Santos moves into the clinch.
Cobb lands a good knee to the midsection. Santos won't want to take too many of those.

Santos gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cobb regains guard.
Cobb will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Santos has his feet on Cobb's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Santos is breathing heavily.
Santos fails to land the takedown.
Cobb throws a leg kick but Santos sees it coming and moves out of range.
Cobb tries to clinch up but Santos circles away and keeps his distance.

Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Santos shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cobb pinned against the cage. Cobb gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Coco Cobb has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Santos.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Cobb obliges.
Cobb unloads a knee to the mid-section. Santos lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Cobb is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Santos is keeping busy.
Cobb crunches a lovely knee into Santos's ribcage.

It looks like Lucas Santos has been cut.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Coco Cobb just wasn't active enough.
Santos avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Cobb will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Cobb throws a body punch but Santos moves out of range.
Santos keeps the fight on the outside.
Cobb tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cobb tries to close the distance and clinch but Santos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cobb is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cobb wants to control but Santos is keeping him busy.
Lucas Santos has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cobb has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cobb is really struggling to control Santos but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Santos tries to hold on but Cobb pushes him away.
Santos is squirming around, avoiding Cobb's attempts to control the action.
Santos is desperately trying to improve his position but Cobb has a good base and remains in mount.
Cobb can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Santos is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cobb throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Cobb wants to stand but Santos is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Santos tries to lock up and control but Cobb gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Cobb trying to control but Santos is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cobb get's back to his feet.
Cobb throws a head kick but Santos moves out of range.

Coco Cobb showed his dominance in that final round.
