PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shaibu Amodu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Garret (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garret tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Amodu counters with a left to the body.
Garret fails in his attempt to clinch.
Garret tries to close the distance and clinch but Amodu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Garret takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Amodu misses with a double jab

and Garret decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Amodu's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Garret forces his way into half guard.
Garret throwing shots but Amodu is blocking nicely.
Garret has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Amodu on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Amodu tries to get out of the position.
Garret is keen to just control but Amodu is a slippery customer.

Garret is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Amodu is just riding it out for now. Garret eventually gives up the hold.

Amodu is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Garret asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Garret closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Amodu swats away the attempt to clinch by Garret.
A combination from Amodu does no damage.
Garret wants to clinch up but Amodu keeps it at a distance.
Amodu throws a left and a right that both miss

and Garret holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Garret jumps guard and drags Amodu to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Amodu wants to stand and escape but instead Garret has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Garret is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Amodu is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Amodu has escaped and now he's on top!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Garret working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Amodu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Amodu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Garret is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Garret is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Amodu rolls with it to try and escape but Garret cranks on the arm and Amodu is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
