PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sun Kato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kato comes to the cage accompanied by STILL BALLIN. The crowd seem to be enjoying Castle's choice of entrance music: Afterworld. Sun Kato is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sun Kato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Castle!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Kato. Castle does a little dance to reset his feet.
Castle staying out of range there.

Kato moves into range and clinches up with Castle.
Castle stalling the fight.
Castle has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Kato breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Castle punishes Kato's body with a nice straight punch.
Kato throws a low kick, looking for Castle's leg but Castle calmly moves out of range.
Castle looks to throw the jab but Kato is out of range.
Kato throws a poor cross that misses
and Castle counters with a nice uppercut.
Castle fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kato is out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kato fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Castle checks it well.
Castle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kato manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kato throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kato turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Castle throws a big shot that misses.
Good exchange - Kato coming out on top.
Castle rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kato moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Castle throws a hook but Kato blocks it.
Castle takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kato misses with a kick to the body.
Castle tries to clinch up but Kato circles away and keeps his distance.
Castle throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Frank Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kato blocks a jab.
Kato chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Castle takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Castle closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Castle looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Kato is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Castle is pressing down on Kato's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kato is holding on for now.
Castle is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kato is not content to let Castle control the position.
Kato pushes Castle off looking to stand but Castle dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kato is looking for a sweep. Castle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Castle looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Castle is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kato is not content to let Castle control the position.
Castle controlling the action here.
Kato is trying to maintain the position but Castle is very close to passing his half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kato is looking for a sweep. Castle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Castle is looking for a kimura here.
Castle is trying to control the action in half guard but Kato is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Castle stalling away here and it's allowed Kato to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Frank Castle will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kato. Castle shrugs it off though.

Castle clinches up with Kato and pushes him back against the cage.
Castle goes for a takedown attempt but Kato pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Some bone on bone action there as Kato checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kato feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Castles jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


It looks like Frank Castle has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kato throws a shot from downtown. Castle moves away and avoids it.
Kato uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Castle.
Castle tries to work over Kato's front leg with a kick but Kato checks it.

Kato misses with a low kick.
Kato misses with a wild combination.
A swing and a miss from Kato.
Castle keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Castle closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kato's guard.
Castle is stalling in the full guard.
Castle slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Castle tries to move to full mount but Kato actually manages to regain half guard.

Castle is looking to stall here but Kato recovers full guard.
Kato controls Castle momentarily but Castle frees himself.
Kato is adopting a defensive guard.
Castle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kato swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Castle drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kato manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Castle has Kato in his guard.
Kato would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Castle looking for a guillotine here but Kato defends easily.
Kato wants to pass the guard but Castle is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kato is working hard here to advance position.
Kato is stalling in the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sun Kato will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Frank Castle's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Castle closes the distance and clinches.
Castle makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Castle misses with a hook from the clinch.
Kato makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Nice body punch from Kato.

Kato goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Castle.
Castle's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kato throws a head punch that misses.
Castle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Castle wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kato has him pressed against the cage.

Kato throws a punch but it's blocked by Castle.

Castle takes a knee right on the jaw!
Kato scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Castle throws a head punch that misses.
Kato misses with a punch to the body.
Castle tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kato smiles and moves away.
Castle throws a lazy right hand but Kato sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kato takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Kato lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Castle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Castle tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kato counters with a nice uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kato stuns Castle with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Castle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Castle throws an off balance right hand
and Kato makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kato connects with a leg kick. Castle looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Kato fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Castle looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Kato tries to close the distance and clinch up but Castle swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Castle scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Sun Kato is winning the standup battle so far.
Kato lands with a shot to the body.
Castle gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kato sends Castle crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Kato is motioning to the referee to let Castle up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Castle is rocked!
Kato dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Castle is still on wobbly legs! Can Kato finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kato tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Castle was well out of range. Poor timing from Kato.
Kato throws a head kick that misses.
Kato lands a nice shot to the body.
Castle seems to have recovered his senses.

Kato lands a big right hand that sends Castle crashing to the mat! Kato stays standing though and waves Castle back to his feet!

Kato tries to throw a body punch but Castle avoids it by throwing Kato back against the cage.
Kato tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Castle looking to stall.

A short right from Kato.
Kato tries to work over Castle's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Kato working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Kato breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kato tries to land a front kick but Castle steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Kato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kato tried to score with a low kick but Castle checks it.
Kato slips under a jab from Castle.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Castle tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kato swats him away and circles back towards the center.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sun Kato showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kato has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
