Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Renato Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cardoso's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Samba de Janeiro. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Michael Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Cardoso. That one must have hurt.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Cardoso moves out of range.
Johnson is looking to clinch.
Nice uppercut lands for Cardoso. That snapped Johnson's head back.
Cardoso throws a wild body kick that Johnson sees coming a mile off.
Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Johnson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Michael Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson throws a leg kick which misses Cardoso's front leg but catches the back leg as Cardoso tries to avoid it.
Johnson lands a jab.
Cardoso moves away from the strike by Johnson.

Cardoso wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.

Cardoso lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Johnson throws a series of punches but Cardoso avoids them all with ease.

A decent looking cross lands there for Johnson.
Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cardoso.

Cardoso looks to land a left hand but Johnson moved out of range nicely.
Cardoso shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnson sprawls well. He's pushed Cardoso's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The fighters circling - Cardoso throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Johnson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cardoso shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the ropes. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cardoso bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Cardoso in side control, throwing shots but Johnson defends.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Johnson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Cardoso is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Johnson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michael Johnson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Cardoso throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Johnson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cardoso manages to avoid it.

Johnson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cardoso's sensitive parts.
Cardoso throws the kick towards the body but Johnson avoids it.

and Cardoso counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Johnson drops his hands momentarily and Cardoso takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Johnson swings for the body but Cardoso moves out of range.

Cardoso bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cardoso has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cardoso misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Cardoso tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Johnson prevents Cardoso from improving position.

Cardoso wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.

Cardoso looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Johnson is trying to get back to his feet.

Cardoso swings around for an armbar but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cardoso's guard.
Johnson trying to control but Cardoso is working from the bottom.
Cardoso is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Cardoso is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Johnson rolls with it to try and escape but Cardoso cranks on the arm and Johnson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
