Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Garrett Hudson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiyoshi Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matsumoto has chosen Carl Douglas - Kung fu fighting as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Garrett Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kiyoshi Matsumoto!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hudson throws a combination that misses
and Matsumoto counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hudson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Matsumoto has Hudson up against the cage in a clinch.
Knees to the body from Matsumoto.
Hudson takes a knee to the side of the body.
Hudson takes an elbow to the temple.
Hudson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Matsumoto prevents it.
Matsumoto pushes Hudson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Hudson is trying to pull guard but Matsumoto has him pressed against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hudson is looking to break free of the clinch but Matsumoto has double underhooks.
Hudson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Matsumoto lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Matsumoto stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Hudson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Matsumoto is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hudson to the mat. Hudson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Matsumoto chips away with some ground and pound.

Hudson is rocked!
Matsumoto looking to control and managing it successfully.
Oh Hudson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hudson tries to lock up and control but Matsumoto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hudson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Matsumoto looking to control but Hudson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Matsumoto swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hudson is now in Matsumoto's guard. A big mistake from Matsumoto there, giving up the dominant position!
Matsumoto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hudson's guard.
Hudson seems to have got his legs back now.
Matsumoto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Matsumoto with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Matsumoto wants to control from the top but Hudson keeps moving.
Matsumoto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Matsumoto is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matsumoto fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hudson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Hudson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Matsumoto.
Hudson throws a sloppy head kick and Matsumoto moves out of range easily.

Hudson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Matsumoto pushes Hudson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Matsumoto lands an elbow inside that Hudson shrugs off.
Matsumoto unloads a knee to the mid-section.

Matsumoto has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hudson regains guard immediately.
Matsumoto keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hudson's head.
Hudson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Matsumoto controls the pace.
Hudson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Matsumoto is now in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Matsumoto connects with a nice short shot to Hudson's temple.
