Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mos Def (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stock Pile (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Def's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mathematics. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Stock Pile enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mos Def!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stock Pile!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Def stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Def wants it to stay on the feet.

Pile gets caught flat footed, as Def shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Pile keeping full guard, as Def tries to pass.
Pile really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Def. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Def trying to control but Pile is working from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Def accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Def with a flurry of punches that miss.

Def drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pile manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Def has Pile in his guard.
Pile looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Def is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pile pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Def is keeping the position for now.
Pile throws a strike but Def rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Def looking to pass the guard.
Pile preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Def trying to control but Pile is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mos Def.
Pile fails with a takedown attempt.
Def moves in looking to clinch but Pile pushes him off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pile misses with an uppercut. Def saw that one coming.

Pile feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pile trying to control but Def is working from the bottom.
Def controls Pile momentarily but Pile frees himself.
Pile trying to control the position from guard on top but Def is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Stock Pile wasn't active enough on the ground.
A nice inside leg kick there by Def. That's going to slow Pile down.
Nice takedown defense from Def. No joy for Pile on that attempt.
Mos Def has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stock Pile.
Pile throws a leg kick that is checked
and Def counters with a slapping leg kick.
Pile loads up on a big right hand but Def slips the punch.
Pile misses with a wild body shot.
Def defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pile.
Def throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Def shoots in for a double leg but Pile sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Def is looking to clinch.
Pile shoots in looking for a takedown. Def tries to sprawl out of it but Pile keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Def manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Def ducks under a wild hook from Pile.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mos Def will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pile misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Def.
Pile throws a low kick, looking for Def's leg but Def calmly moves out of range.

Def shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pile manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Def postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Def missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Def passes into half guard.

Def seems to be looking for submissions.

Def is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pile sees it coming and defends easily.

Def is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pile doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Def.
Def has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Def trying to control from half guard but Pile is working away.
Def not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Def thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Pile wants to control but Def is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Def is looking for a kimura but Pile is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Def to get the leverage.
Def throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Def prevents Pile from improving his position.

Def is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pile defends it well.
Pile is looking for a sweep. Def is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pile keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Def wants to free his trapped foot but Pile is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Def thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Def is keen to just control but Pile is a slippery customer.
Pile is looking to control Def's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pile avoid being mounted?
Pile tries to get to full guard but Def has control of the leg.
Def trying to control the action but Pile is working from the bottom.
Def passes to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Def tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Pile manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Def is staying active underneath Pile, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Pile sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Def defending well though.
Pile lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Pile is looking to stall here but Def recovers full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Def pulls Pile in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mos Def dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Def pushes Pile away with a front kick.
Pile throws a leg kick
and Def counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pile's knee momentarily.

Def gets a clinch.

Def breaks from the clinch.
Def tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pile manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Def connects with an inside leg kick.
Def tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Def tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pile swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pile fails with the takedown

and Def counters by moving into the clinch.
Def is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Def blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pile has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Def is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Mos Def has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stock Pile.
Def with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Pile takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Def turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Def manages to end up in side control.
Def in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Def is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Pile will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Def connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pile some visible discomfort.

Def goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Pile rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Def's guard! Nice work there by Pile!
Def managing to control the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Def wriggles free and stands up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pile looks to land a right hand but Def moved out of range.
Pile tries to work over Def's front leg with a kick but Def checks it.
Pile shoots in but no luck this time.
A big right from Pile misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pile enables Def to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pile manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Def missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Def working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Def postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Def controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Def in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mos Def overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pile utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Def wants to control from the top but Pile keeps moving.
Def lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Stock Pile has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Def is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Pile preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Def missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Def throws a big elbow that misses.
Def trying to control the position from guard on top but Pile is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Def stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pile swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Def throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pile works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mos Def showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Def has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
