Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gwyn Jones!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones wants to clinch.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Shields keeps the fight on the outside.
Jones lands a head kick!


It looks like Jake Shields has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shields swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A head kick from Jones lands but Shields takes it in his stride.

Shields fails with the takedown.

Shields shoots in but Jones avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Shields counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shields.
Shields is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones wants to stand but Shields is controlling the position.
Jones is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Jones keeping full guard, as Shields tries to pass.
Jones is looking to stand up but Shields isn't so interested in that idea.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shields. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shields is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Shields has managed to sneak the leg through.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shields in particular looking to stall.

Shields is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Shields eventually gives up the hold.

Shields working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Shields is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Shields is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
