PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Craig Cowper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boi Bandido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boi Bandido will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Craig Cowper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Boi Bandido!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cowper circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bandido tries to clinch there but Cowper circles away.
Sloppy strikes from Bandido. Those never looked like landing.
Bandido tries to clinch but Cowper moves out of range.
Bandido fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Cowper scores with a takedown into Bandido's guard.
Bandido is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cowper stops Bandido from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cowper makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bandido wants to get back to his feet but Cowper is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Bandido is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cowper controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cowper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bandido on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cowper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bandido swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cowper seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Cowper is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Cowper is working Bandido over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cowper controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bandido keeping moving, preventing Cowper from controlling successfully.
Bandido wants to stand and escape but Cowper is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cowper stays in close to Bandido's body and controls the position.

Craig Cowper has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cowper is defended easily by Bandido.
Bandido slaps away a takedown attempt from Cowper, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Cowper fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Craig Cowper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bandido throws a series of punches but Cowper moves out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bandido scores with a one two! Cowper had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Boi Bandido seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bandido throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Cowper fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bandido to the ground. Cowper is now in Bandido's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cowper with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cowper keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bandido's head.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cowper accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cowper working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Bandido's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cowper not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bandido wants to stand and escape but Cowper is having none of it.

Cowper tries to free his leg and advance position but Bandido is retaining full guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cowper lands a couple of digs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Cowper dominated that round.
That's time! Cowper's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Cowper shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bandido napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bandido is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
A big shot lands for Cowper! That's hurt Bandido! Will he recover? Cowper fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Craig Cowper!
